This is one of my mothers recipes. It was clipped from the local newspaper. I remember how yummy and tender the steak was.

Ingredients

3 Tbsp
all purpose flour
1/2 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
black pepper
1 1/2 lb
beef round steak (3/4 inch thick)
2/3 c
catalina dressing
8 oz
tomato sauce
1/4 c
water
1 medium
onion, sliced
1
bell pepper,cut into strips

How to Make Snappy Swiss Steak

Step-by-Step

  • 1Combine flour,salt and pepper in a small bowl. Sprinkle flour mixture on both sides of steak. Rub evenly over steak.Pound flour mixture into the steak using a meat mallet or the edge of a saucer.
  • 2Cut meat into serving size pieces. Heat 1/3 cup of the dressing in a skillet over low heat. add meat to the skillet. Cook until browned on both sides, turning once.
  • 3Add remaining dressing, tomato sauce, water and onions. Cover. Simmer 1 hour and 45 minutes.
  • 4Add bell pepper. Cover.Continue simmering 15 more minutes or until meat and vegetables are tender.
