When my son was a little guy he loved these Sloppy Joes. Its one of my husands favorites as well. Good for the whole family and great to serve for the games. Chruch socials. Easy and tastey..

  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped celery
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped bell pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 1 c
    canned plum tomatoes with juice
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp
    hot sauce
  • 1 c
    finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped carrots
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1 lb
    extra lean hamburger
  • 2 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 2 tsp
    red wine vinegar
  • 4
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp

How to Make Sloppy Joes Homemade


  1. In a medium saucepan heat oil,add onions,celery,carrot,and bell pepper. Saute stirring occasionally, until onions are translucent,about 10 mins. Add oregano,thyme,and beef,breaking up beef with spoon. Saute unti beef is no longer pink.
  2. Combine tomatoes,water and tomatoe paste, add to beef mixture.Cook for about 2 mins. Add worcester sauce,vingar,hot pepper sauce,salt and pepper.bring to boil, lower heat and simmer 10 mins. Serve on rolls.
  3. You can serve over pasta, rice, mashed potatoes as well.
