This recipe has been around my family for, at least, fifty years. In fact, that's how long ago it was when my ex-sister-in-law gave it to me. Who knows how long she'd had it. It easy, requires few ingrediants, and it's fast. Enjoy!

1 1/2 lb
ground chuck
green pepper- chopped (can use yellow or orange if you prefer)
large onion, chopped
1 large pkg
portabella or button mushrooms. sliced- we prefer portabellas
1/2 tsp
sea salt, smoked if you have it
1/4 tsp
pepper, ground
hot sauce to taste
1/2 tsp
worcestershire sauce
2 small can(s)
tomato sauce
1 pkg
favorite hamburger buns, we like the onion ones
2 clove
garlic, diced

How to Make Sloppy Joes-Connie Style


  • 1Saute onions, garlic and green pepper five minutes on medium or till translusent.
  • 2Add sliced mushrooms.
  • 3Add ground chuck and saute 8 minutes on medium.
  • 4Add hot sauce, worchester sauce, salt and pepper.
  • 5Add 2 small cans of tomatoe sauce.
  • 6Cook 15 minutes.
  • 7Serve on your favorite bun.
