12 - 15 sandwiches
Ingredients
- 1 can tomato soup
- 1 can golden mushroom soup
- 1 can tomato paste
- 2 pounds ground meat of your choice - turkey, chicken, pork, beef, etc...or a mix works well
- 1 medium sweet onion
- dash seasoning to taste
- 1/2 pound fresh portabello mushrooms stems removed
How To Make sloppy joes
-
Step 1Brown ground meat(s) of your choice until no pink is showing. Drain and rinse with warm water.
-
Step 2Dice and sautee mushrooms and onion. Add ground meat and seasoning to suit your tastes. (A dash or two of hot sauce, Lawry's season salt and Greek seasoning are what I use). Combined the onion, seasoning and meat well over medium heat.
-
Step 3Add cans of tomato soup, golden mushroom soup and tomato paste to the meat and onion mixture. Stir until well blended. Heat until the mixture just starts to bubble.
-
Step 4Remove from heat and serve on a bun - My children like it over mashed potatoes or pasta - OR - you can place the mixture in a crock pot and simmer on low for 2 - 4 hours. This marries the flavors and intensifies them more. Serves well with shredded cheese or sour cream on top.
