slap yo mama meat loaf

This meat loaf is so good it will make you want to slap yo mama for not making this for you. I love cooking with ground turkey but it doesn't hold together as well as ground chuck so I decided to mix the two meats. The mixture makes it taste great. The A-1 mixed with the ketchup is also a great balance. You will love the smell while it cooks in your oven! Enjoy!

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped and sauteed in oil
  • 1 small green pepper, chopped and sauteed oil
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/3 cup a-1 sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 - eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder & salt to taste
  • SAUCE FOR THE TOP:
  • 1/4 cup a-1
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • french's fried onions (optional)

How To Make slap yo mama meat loaf

  • Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Saute the Onions and green peppers in oil in a pan. Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl by hand. Divide the sauce at the bottom of the recipe and mix half of it in the loaf and save the other half for the top at the end. Press into loaf pan. Or if you like a crunchier texture you can shape the loaf on a cookie sheet.
  • Step 2
Cook for 50 minutes. Pour off excess fat and top with other half of the a-1 and ketchup mixture. Bake for an additional 10 minutes more.
  • Step 3
*This is also great topped with French's fried onions sprinkled on top at the end when you cook the a-1 and ketchup mixture. Gives it a nice crunch!
  • Step 4
    * I also like to make mini loaves with them in muffin cups. Just spray the cups with cooking spray. You use the same temp but cook the loaves for 25 minutes then add the extra sauce on top, then cook for an additional 7 minutes. A lot quicker this way and a lot easier to serve.
