skillet hot dish
(1 RATING)
I got this recipe from my sister-in-law in Wisconsin when I was still working. It was quick, filling and my family loved it. My three boys are now married, and they ALL took the recipe with them when they left home. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 1 pound hamburger
- 1 can corn, drained
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
- 1 1/2 cups instant rice
- 1 1/2 cans water
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped fine
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
How To Make skillet hot dish
-
Step 1In a large skillet, brown the hamburger and onion. Pour off grease (I drain mine on paper towels). Add the soup, water, chili powder, corn, and salt. Bring to a boil.
-
Step 2Add rice to pan, and mix carefully with a wooden spoon into other mixture. Reduce heat and let SIMMER until desired consistency, about 10 minutes or so. Additional ingredients that can be used: 1 can of mushrooms, or a small can of stewed tomatoes instead of the corn.
-
Step 3I always served with either Italian or French bread and a green salad. It was a filling meal, and took less than 30 minutes to complete.
