Ingredients

  • 3-4 pounds swiss steak
  • 2 cans stewed tomatoes with juice (14 1/2 ounces)
  • 4 ounces mushroom stem/pieces, drained
  • 2-3 teaspoons garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 - bay leaves
  • - cumin
  • - salsa

How To Make shredded beef

  • Step 1
    Brown swiss steak on both sides in a large dutch oven.
  • Step 2
    Add 1 can stewed tomatoes, mushrooms, garlic and bay leaves.
  • Step 3
    Add enough water to cover the top of the meat.
  • Step 4
    Cover and simmer for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Step 5
    When most of the liquid is gone, take meat out of the pan and let cool for a few minutes, (long enough to be able to touch without getting burned).
  • Step 6
    Shred the meat with a fork, and put back in pan.
  • Step 7
    Add other can of tomatoes and cumin.
  • Step 8
    Can also add some salsa if wanted.
  • Step 9
    Simmer until all juice is gone.
  • Step 10
    Can be used for tacos, burritos, or whatever you want.
