My mother was a wonderful cook this is one(of many) of my favorite dishes she made and I continue to make it today.The red gravy is slightly thick,more like a thick sauce.Mom always served this with mashed potatoes and sauteed zucchini.

beef bouillon, cubes
black pepper
garlic cloves,chopped
tomato sauce
slurry of flour and water

How to Make Short Ribs with Red Gravy

Step-by-Step

  • 1Place short rbs in a large an,add seasonings.Cover with water and simmer several hours until meat is falling off the bone.Remove meat from pan,keep warm.Mix flour and cold water till slightly thick(this is what I call a slurry)add to broth,add tomato sauce,stir well.Taste for seasoning.Cook until red gravy is slightly thick,add beef back into pan and coat with red gravy.
