- 2 pounds browned ground beef (sausage if you're feeling frisky)
- 1 box instant mashed potatoes

- 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, undiluted (14.5 oz)
- 1 package grated cheese
How To Make shepherd's pie - the cheap way!
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Brown the hamburger and make 6-8 servings of instant potatoes (follow the box instructions).
-
Step 2Drain grease from hamburger then mix in mixed vegetables and cream of mushroom soup.
-
Step 3Pour meat/veggie/soup mix into a 13x9 inch pan and spread around evenly.
-
Step 4Spread grated cheese evenly over meat/veggie/soup mixture.
-
Step 5Spoon mashed potatoes evenly over cheese layer.
-
Step 6Add more grated cheese over mashed potatoes.
-
Step 7Cover with tin foil and bake for 30 minutes (long enough for it to melt the cheese and be hot all the way through).
-
Step 8We like to serve it with simple cornbread. Scoop it out with a large spoon or spatula.
