My friends and family love this when I make it. I make it many different ways. Here's one of the ways. It's also great when you have leftovers and you have no idea what to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups dry instant mash potatoes
  • 1 1/2 cups water, boiling
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • dash garlic salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 or 6 - 1 pie shell or 6 small pie shells
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables, frozen of your likings
  • 1 teaspoon butter, melted
  • 1 small onion cut and cubed

How To Make shepard's pie

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees f
  • Step 2
    In med. saucepan boil the water, milk and butter. Add the instant mashed potatoes, garlic salt and pepper. Stir. Remove from heat. Set aside.
  • Step 3
    Place veggies in water, bring to a boil. Set aside.
  • Step 4
    Brown the beef in a med. frying pan. Brown the onions after draining the grease.
  • Step 5
    Take the pie(s) add the ground beef 1st, then the veggies 2nd and potatoes last. With a fork drag it across the potatoes and drizzle some melted butter on top.
  • Step 6
    Bake for 30 to 45 mins. or potatoes are lightly browned.
  • Step 7
    Remove from oven and serve.
