My friends and family love this when I make it. I make it many different ways. Here's one of the ways. It's also great when you have leftovers and you have no idea what to make.

Add to Grocery List

1 1/2 c
dry instant mash potatoes
1 1/2 c
water, boiling
2/3 c
2 Tbsp
butter, softened
garlic salt and pepper
1 1/2 lb
ground chuck
1 or 6
1 pie shell or 6 small pie shells
1 c
mixed vegetables, frozen of your likings
1 tsp
butter, melted
1 small
onion cut and cubed

How to Make Shepard's Pie


  • 1Preheat oven to 400 degrees f
  • 2In med. saucepan boil the water, milk and butter. Add the instant mashed potatoes, garlic salt and pepper. Stir. Remove from heat. Set aside.
  • 3Place veggies in water, bring to a boil. Set aside.
  • 4Brown the beef in a med. frying pan. Brown the onions after draining the grease.
  • 5Take the pie(s) add the ground beef 1st, then the veggies 2nd and potatoes last. With a fork drag it across the potatoes and drizzle some melted butter on top.
  • 6Bake for 30 to 45 mins. or potatoes are lightly browned.
  • 7Remove from oven and serve.
