Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds round steak
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 - finely chopped onion
- 2 - carrots, peeled and grated
- 2 - stalks celery, finely chopped
- 1 can tomatoes, 16 ounces
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
How To Make savory swiss steak

Step 1Cut steak into 6 serving-size portions.

Step 2Coat with a mixture of flour, mustard, salt and pepper.

Step 3Using a large frying pan, brown meat in half the butter and oil.

Step 4Transfer to crockpot.

Step 5Heat remaining butter and oil in frying pan.

Step 6Saute onions, carrots and celery until glazed.

Step 7Add tomatoes, worcestershire and brown sugar.

Step 8Heat, scraping up drippings.

Step 9Pour over meat.

Step 10Cover.

Step 11Cook on low, 6 to 8 hours, or until tender.

Step 12Serve meat with sauce spooned over.

Step 13Sprinkle with parsley.
