Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons onion, minced
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon italian seasoning, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns, freshly cracked
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 - bibb lettuce leaves
  • 8 slices tomato
  • 4 slices red onion, thinly sliced

How To Make savory beef burgers

  • Step 1
    Combine ground beef, onion, mustard, Italian seasoning, cumin, pepper and salt, mixing lightly but thoroughly.
  • Step 2
    Divide beef mixture into 4 equal portions shape into 1/2 inch thick patties, 4 inches in diameter.
  • Step 3
    Place patties on rack in broiler pan so surface of meat is 3 to 4 inches from heat.
  • Step 4
    Broil 10 minutes or to desired doneness, turning once.
  • Step 5
    Place 2 or 3 lettuce leaves on each of 4 plates; top with 2 tomato slices, 2 onion rings and 1 burger.
