My family has had it's chili recipes for many years. As they vary slightly from one kitchen to the next, I came up with a recipe that combines them all into one big pot of love!

Ingredients

  • 2 lb
    ground beef or diced stew meat; (try venison if you can)
  • 1 c
    diced onion
  • 3 Tbsp
    minced fresh garlic
  • 1 can(s)
    diced fire roasted tomatoes with liquid
  • 1/4 c
    chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp
    paprika
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 2 c
    chicken broth, unsalted
  • 2 c
    beef broth, reduced sodium

How to Make San Antonio Chili Con Carne

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown meat; add onions and garlic and saute lightly; stir in spices; add tomatoes and broth; bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 2 to 3 hours. * Adjust spices to desired heat level; serve with fresh chopped cilantro, onion, shredded cheese, sour cream, corn chips. You can also add a can of pinto or kidney beans if you like.
