salisbury steak with mushroom onion gravy
You know those cafeteria Salisbury Steaks that are like pressed Alpo? They can taste pretty good, as long as you don't really look at it. This is much better and pretty easy.

Ingredients
- FOR THE STEAKS
- 2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
- 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- garlic powder, to taste
- onion powder, to taste
- Montreal steak seasoning, to taste
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- FOR THE GRAVY
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 package baby bella mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup corn starch, for slurry
- 1/4 cup beef broth, for slurry
How To Make salisbury steak with mushroom onion gravy

Step 1Chop onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Set aside separately.

Step 2Mix meat, bread crumbs, eggs, milk, bell pepper, seasonings, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard together by hand.

Step 3Form into patties. Should form 8-9 patties.

Step 4In a large skillet (I use my big cast iron) put in some oil and a little butter. Heat. Then add patties, cooking for 5 to 6 minutes per side until done. Set aside.

Step 5Into a skillet after removing the patties, add onion and mushrooms. Stir frequently. Once the onions soften, add the garlic and cook til they are done.

Step 6Add broth to skillet. Allow to cook and deglaze drippings and start ro reduce. Add slurry.

Step 7After a couple of minutes add steaks. Cover and cook until gravy is thickened.

Step 8Serve over mashed potatoes or rice.
