Ingredients

  • FOR THE SALISBURY STEAK
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1/2 package beef au jus mix
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • GRAVY
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 package beef au jus mix
  • 2 teaspoons each dijon mustard and worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper

How To Make salisbury steak with mushroom gravy

  • Step 1
    For the Salisbury Steak Place the Panko is a small bowl. Grate the onion over the Panko and massage it into the Panko and let soak for 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Mix the remaining Salisbury steak ingredients together in a large bowl. Add the Panko mixture. Mix well with hands until well incorporated. Shape into 4 patties.
  • Step 3
    Heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the steaks and cook for 2 minutes each side. Remove the steaks and set aside.
  • Step 4
    Add the onion and garlic and cook 3 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook 4 minutes until the mushrooms are golden. Turn the heat down to medium and add the butter. Whisk in the flour and let cook 30 seconds. Slowly add the beef broth whisking until lumps are gone. Add the remaining ingredients for the gravy.
  • Step 5
    Add the steaks into the gravy and cook 5 to 7 minutes. Taste and adjust for salt and pepper. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice or pasta.
