I can't remember exactly where I got this recipe because I've had it for 40 or so years. I think that it came from a Campbell's Soup cookbook.

Ingredients

1 can(s)
french onion soup, divided
1 1/2 lb
lean ground beef
1/2 c
dry bread crumbs (plain)
1
egg, slightly beaten
1/4 tsp
salt
dash(es)
black pepper
1/4 c
catsup
1 tsp
worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp
prepared yellow mustard
1/4 c
water
1 Tbsp
all-purpose flour

How to Make Salisbury Steak

Step-by-Step

  • 1Thoroughly mix 1/3 cup soup with ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt and pepper; shape into 6 oval patties. Brown and drain.
  • 2Mix remaining ingredients with remaining soup. Pour over patties in pan and cook on low heat about 20 minutes or until meat is cooked through.
  • 3Serve with cooked noodles or rice.
