I can't remember exactly where I got this recipe because I've had it for 40 or so years. I think that it came from a Campbell's Soup cookbook.

Ingredients

  • 1 can(s)
    french onion soup, divided
  • 1 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    dry bread crumbs (plain)
  • 1
    egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • dash(es)
    black pepper
  • 1/4 c
    catsup
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    prepared yellow mustard
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour

How to Make Salisbury Steak

Step-by-Step

  1. Thoroughly mix 1/3 cup soup with ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt and pepper; shape into 6 oval patties. Brown and drain.
  2. Mix remaining ingredients with remaining soup. Pour over patties in pan and cook on low heat about 20 minutes or until meat is cooked through.
  3. Serve with cooked noodles or rice.
