I have adopted this orphaned recipe and tweaked it to make it my own. Will take a pic the next time I make it, if I can figure out how, lol. Let me know if you enjoy it!

stew beef, seasoned, your choice
1/4 c
flour, or enough to coat beef
1/4 c
2 can(s)
potatoes, chunked
2 large
carrot, chunked
1 medium
onion, rough chopped
2 clove
garlic, minced (i use a garlic press)
1 can(s)
beef consomme
1 can(s)
beef broth
28 oz
crushed tomatoes
3/4 c
red wine
1/2 tsp
thyme, crushed
1/4 tsp
rosemary, crushed
1/4 tsp
salt, or to taste
1/8 tsp
pepper, or to taste

How to Make Ria's Savory Beef Stew


  • 1Season the beef chunks with salt & pepper, then coat with flour.
  • 2Meanwhile, in a dutch oven w/lid, heat oil over medium high heat. Add the beef and cook, turning until browned.
  • 3Remove beef and set aside.
  • 4Add next 4 ingredients to saucepan; saute 5 minutes.
  • 5Return beef to saucepan.
  • 6Add beef consomme, and next 5 ingredients.
  • 7Bring to a boil.
  • 8Reduce heat, cover and simmer until meat is tender, about 45 minutes.
  • 9Adjust seasoning as needed with salt and pepper.
  • 10Serve over rice or noodles, accompanied by southern cornbread.
