This recipe originated from an old Navy Wives cookbook that my mother use to own. It was originally called GreenBean Casserole - but I changed the name because it is nothing like the one you make at Thanksgiving. This is one pot comfort food at it's best - my family loves it!

1 lb
hamburger meat - browned and drained
1 can(s)
cut green beans drained
1 can(s)
condensed tomato soup
salt and pepper to taste
2 Tbsp
worchestshire sauce
4 c
hot instant mashed potatoes
1/2 c
cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)

How to Make Redneck Shepard's Pie


  • 1Brown Hamburger and drain. In same pot add drained green beans and tomato soup - stir to combine. Add Salt & pepper and worchestshire sauce and cook on medium temp for about 10-15 minutes, until green beans are cooked and softened.
  • 2While cooking down meat mixture make 4 cups of instant mashed potatoes according to box directions.
  • 3Turn the meat mixture into a medium sized casserole dish. Top meat mixture with mounds of instant potatoes and spread to sides to seal. Top with shredded cheddar cheese if desired.
  • 4Bake at 375 for 25 minutes. Let it stand 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
