This recipe originated from an old Navy Wives cookbook that my mother use to own. It was originally called GreenBean Casserole - but I changed the name because it is nothing like the one you make at Thanksgiving. This is one pot comfort food at it's best - my family loves it!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    hamburger meat - browned and drained
  • 1 can(s)
    cut green beans drained
  • 1 can(s)
    condensed tomato soup
  • dash(es)
    salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 Tbsp
    worchestshire sauce
  • 4 c
    hot instant mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 c
    cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)

How to Make Redneck Shepard's Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown Hamburger and drain. In same pot add drained green beans and tomato soup - stir to combine. Add Salt & pepper and worchestshire sauce and cook on medium temp for about 10-15 minutes, until green beans are cooked and softened.
  2. While cooking down meat mixture make 4 cups of instant mashed potatoes according to box directions.
  3. Turn the meat mixture into a medium sized casserole dish. Top meat mixture with mounds of instant potatoes and spread to sides to seal. Top with shredded cheddar cheese if desired.
  4. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes. Let it stand 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
