This recipe originated from an old Navy Wives cookbook that my mother use to own. It was originally called GreenBean Casserole - but I changed the name because it is nothing like the one you make at Thanksgiving. This is one pot comfort food at it's best - my family loves it!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound hamburger meat - browned and drained
  • 1 can cut green beans drained
  • 1 can condensed tomato soup
  • dash salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons worchestshire sauce
  • 4 cups hot instant mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)

How To Make redneck shepard's pie

  • Step 1
    Brown Hamburger and drain. In same pot add drained green beans and tomato soup - stir to combine. Add Salt & pepper and worchestshire sauce and cook on medium temp for about 10-15 minutes, until green beans are cooked and softened.
  • Step 2
    While cooking down meat mixture make 4 cups of instant mashed potatoes according to box directions.
  • Step 3
    Turn the meat mixture into a medium sized casserole dish. Top meat mixture with mounds of instant potatoes and spread to sides to seal. Top with shredded cheddar cheese if desired.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 375 for 25 minutes. Let it stand 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
