Ingredients

  • - 2 t. oil
  • - 1 lb. ground round
  • - 1 large onion, chopped
  • - 1 t. chili powder
  • - 1/2 t. ground cumin
  • - 1 t. salt
  • - 1/3 cup dry red wine
  • - 1 can tomato sauce (8 oz)
  • - 1 green pepper, halved, seeded and diced
  • - 4 cups shredded lettuce
  • - 1 avocado, peeled, pitted and sliced
  • - 4 green onions, sliced

How To Make quick chili con carne, california style

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in large skillet. Add beef and onion. Cook and stir often until meat browns slightly.
  • Step 2
    Stir in chili powder, cumin and salt. Add wine, tomato sauce and green pepper.
  • Step 3
    Cook stirring often, 5 minutes. To serve, arrange lettuce and avocado on dinner plates. Spoon hot chili over evenly. Sprinkle with green onions; serve with hot tortillas or corn bread.
