Ingredients

  • 5 - red potatoes
  • 1 cup sour cream ( reduced fat if you like)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 pounds hamburger meat
  • 1 large yellow onion - chopped
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • - chili powder - to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 - 12 oz can french fried onions

How To Make potato burger casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees Boil potatoes, leaving skins on, approximately 25 minutes. while potatoes are boiling, brown hamburger and chopped onion in skillet. Saute until done. Add Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt and pepper. Mix together and set aside. Once potatoes are done, drain water. Mash with skins on until smooth. Add sour cream, butter, half & half, salt and pepper.
  • Step 2
    In a small 8 x 8 or 9 x 9 oven proof dish, spoon meat mixture and spread on bottom of pan. Next spread the potatoes on top of meat. Sprinkle cheese on top and distribute evenly over potatoes. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and add French onion on top. Bake an additional 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and let stand 5 - 10 minutes.
