beef chuck pot roast
2 Tbsp
cooking fat
salt and pepper to taste
1.5 c
1 c
1/4 c
onion, chopped
1 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1/4 c
1 tsp
mustard, prepared
1 Tbsp
brown sugar

How to Make Pot Roast In Barbecue Sauce


  • 1In a dutch oven, or large pan with a tight-fitting cover, brown meat in fat.
  • 2Season with salt and pepper and remove from pan.
  • 3Pour off fat drippings.
  • 4Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
  • 5Return meat to pan.
  • 6Cover and simmer for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, or until done (or cook in a 325 oven for same amount of time).
  • 7Turn meat once to cook it evenly throughout and baste with sauce.
  • 8Taste sauce and correct seasoning, if necessary, with salt and pepper.
  • 9When meat is done, remove and keep warm.
  • 10Skim excess fat from sauce.
  • 11Slice meat, and serve sauce separately.
