Ingredients
- 5 pounds beef chuck pot roast
- 2 tablespoons cooking fat
- - salt and pepper to taste
- 1.5 cups ketchup
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 teaspoon mustard, prepared
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
How To Make pot roast in barbecue sauce

Step 1In a dutch oven, or large pan with a tight-fitting cover, brown meat in fat.

Step 2Season with salt and pepper and remove from pan.

Step 3Pour off fat drippings.

Step 4Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

Step 5Return meat to pan.

Step 6Cover and simmer for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, or until done (or cook in a 325 oven for same amount of time).

Step 7Turn meat once to cook it evenly throughout and baste with sauce.

Step 8Taste sauce and correct seasoning, if necessary, with salt and pepper.

Step 9When meat is done, remove and keep warm.

Step 10Skim excess fat from sauce.

Step 11Slice meat, and serve sauce separately.
