polenta with beef ragu

This is a very hearty,meaty dish. One of my husband and son's favorites.

Ingredients

  • - 2 lbs beef chuck roast
  • - 1/3 c flour
  • - 2 t. salt
  • - 1/2 t. black pepper
  • - 1 1/2 c chopped onions
  • - 16 oz canned tomatoes,undrained
  • - 1 t. dried oregano
  • - 3 garlic cloves,minced
  • - 2 c beef broth
  • - 2 c mushrooms,cut in half
  • - 2 tablespoons flour
  • - 3 t water
  • - 2 t parsley,minced
  • - polenta,cooked,sliced,cooled,then browned

How To Make polenta with beef ragu

  • Step 1
    Combine 1/3 c. flour, salt and pepper,sprinkle on both sides of beef and brown in oil in large pot. Add remaining ingredients except 2 T. of flour, water and mushrooms. Stir well and bake 300 degrees for 5-6 hours on med. low. One hour before removing from oven,add mushrooms.Mix in combined 2 tbsp. flour and 3 tbsp. water and mushrooms. Cook until thick. Break up roast with a fork and serve over polenta.Add parsley.
