Ingredients For picadillo

  • 1 tsp
    olive oil
  • 1 c
    diced red onion
  • 2 clove
    crushed garlic
  • 1 c
    diced green (or red) pepper
  • 1 lb
    lean ground round beef
  • 2 1/2 c
    low sodium tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    drained capers
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    white vinegar
  • 2 c
    cooked rice

How To Make picadillo

  • 1
    Heat the oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic and green pepper. Saute 5 minutes

    Add the beef, and brown, breaking into small pieces. Drain fat.

    Add the tomato sauce and stir well. Add the worcestershire sauce, capers and hite vinegar.

    Lower the heat to medium, simmer , cooking occasionally for about 10 minutes or until the meat is cooked through.

    Add salt and pepper to taste, and add more vinegar if desired. Serve over
