Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup picante sauce
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound beef round steak
  • 1 medium red or green bell pepper
  • 1 cup mushrooms, freshly sliced
  • 6 - green onions, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 - garlic clove, minced
  • - hot cooked rice

How To Make pepper steak stir fry

  • Step 1
    Cut beef round steak into 1 1/2 x 1/4 inch strips.
  • Step 2
    Cut the pepper into short, thin strips.
  • Step 3
    Combine picante sauce, water, soy sauce, cornstarch and ginger in small bowl; set aside.
  • Step 4
    In large skillet or wok over high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of the oil until hot but not smoking.
  • Step 5
    Add meat and stir-fry 1 to 2 minutes; remove with slotted spool set aside.
  • Step 6
    Drain skillet, if necessary.
  • Step 7
    Heat remaining tablespoon oil in skillet.
  • Step 8
    Add peppers, mushrooms, onions, and garlic to skillet; stir-fry 3 minutes.
  • Step 9
    Return meat to skillet.
  • Step 10
    Stir picante sauce mixture and pour into skillet.
  • Step 11
    Cook and stir about 1 minute or until sauce thickens.
  • Step 12
    Serve over rice with additional picante sauce.
