Growing up we had venison as a substitute for beef. This dish is delicious and a favorite 50 plus years later. Serve it over mashed potatoes or rice and you have a complete meal. Make it in your crock pot or in the oven, you choose.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds raw stew meat (venison, beef, bison)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 - celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 1-2 cup chopped carrots
  • 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons quick cooking tapioca
  • 1 cup water

How To Make paul horning stew

  • Step 1
    Mix in cooking pot, cover and bake at 250 degrees for 4 hours. If using a crock pot use half of the water.
