Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/4 cup corn flake crumbs
  • 1 large egg, lighly beaten
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese

How To Make patties parmigiana

  • Step 1
Mix the meat, onion, salt, worcestershire sauce and pepper together.
  • Step 2
Shape the mixture into 6 patties, each about 3/4-inch thick.
  • Step 3
Mix parmesan cheese and cornflake crumbs.
  • Step 4
Dip the patties into the egg, then coat them with the cornflake mixture.
  • Step 5
Brown the patties in a large skillet over medium heat, turning once (if the ground beef is lean, it may be necessary to add a small amount of shortening or salad oil to the skillet when browning the patties).
  • Step 6
    Drain off the excess fat.
  • Step 7
Mix the tomato sauce and Italian seasoning and pour over the patties in the skillet.
  • Step 8
Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Step 9
Top each patty with a slice of cheese and cover.
  • Step 10
Heat until the cheese is melted, about 2 minutes.
  • Step 11
Serve the leftover sauce over the patties.
