Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb
    beef round steak, cut 3/4 inch thick
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • c
    milk
  • 1/2 c
    bread crumbs, dry
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 5/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 3 Tbsp
    bacon drippings
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1/4 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 1/4 c
    parmesan cheese, grated
  • 6 small
    onions, peeled
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    paprika

How to Make Parmesan Round Steak

Step-by-Step

  1. Trim excess fat from steak; pound to 1/2 inch thickness.
  2. Cut steak into serving size pieces.
  3. Combine egg and milk; beat well.
  4. Combine breadcrumbs, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper.
  5. Dip steak in egg mixture, dredge in breadcrumb mixture and brown in bacon drippings.
  6. Place steak in a lightly greased 2 quart baking dish.
  7. Add water and sprinkle with oregano and cheese.
  8. Add onions to steak; sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon salt and paprika.
  9. Cover tightly and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until tender.
