Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds beef round steak, cut 3/4 inch thick
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • cup milk
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs, dry
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 tablespoons bacon drippings
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 6 small onions, peeled
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

How To Make parmesan round steak

  • Step 1
    Trim excess fat from steak; pound to 1/2 inch thickness.
  • Step 2
    Cut steak into serving size pieces.
  • Step 3
    Combine egg and milk; beat well.
  • Step 4
    Combine breadcrumbs, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper.
  • Step 5
    Dip steak in egg mixture, dredge in breadcrumb mixture and brown in bacon drippings.
  • Step 6
    Place steak in a lightly greased 2 quart baking dish.
  • Step 7
    Add water and sprinkle with oregano and cheese.
  • Step 8
    Add onions to steak; sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon salt and paprika.
  • Step 9
    Cover tightly and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until tender.
