Oven Beef Stew

My mom made this a lot when Mississippi finally had cold weather when I was a young girl. I still make it now ad play - -a lot - -with the ingredients. The results vary, but are consistently delicious and very easy. ENJOY!!

1 lb
beef stew meat
1 pkg
mixed veggies, frozen
1 pkg
dry onion soup mix (i've also used savory herb and garlic or beefy mushroom
1 can(s)
cream of mushroom soup
1 can(s)
ginger ale (less if you want thicker stew
you can also add other seasonings as you like.)
also, for those of you who like a darker stew color, add about 1-2 tsp. of kitchen bouquet and stir into the mixture befoe cooking.
if you chose, you may also add raw diced potatoes at the beginning of cooking if you don't want to serve it over rice. this is a great 1st recipe for a clild learning how to cook.


1In an oven roasting pan with a tight fitting lid, combine all ingredients and stir to combine.
2Cook in a hot oven - 400* - for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
