Ingredients
- 1 beef brisket, 10 - 12 pounds
- garlic salt
- 1 bottle chili sauce (heinz brand recommended)
- 3/4 cup dry onion soup mix
- 6-8 medium carrots, peeled and cut into 1" pieces
- 16 medium new potatoes (red), washed, and peeled around once
How To Make oven-baked beef brisket

Step 1Trim brisket of most of the fat on the top of the brisket. Rub brisket with garlic salt on both sides.

Step 2Place brisket, fat-side up, in a baking pan and pour the bottle of chili sauce over the top. Sprinkle onion soup mix over the the chili sauce.

Step 3Add approx. 1 inch water around the outsides of the brisket and cover pan tightly with foil.

Step 4Bake brisket at 275 degrees F. for 6-7 hours or until fork tender. Add the potatoes and carrots 1 hour before the brisket is done. Pan drippings make a great gravy - just remove as much fat as possible and thicken if necessary with a cornstarch slurry.
