Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 5-6 pounds brisket
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds onions, sliced

How To Make onion smothered brisket

  • Step 1
    Mix garlic powder, paprika and pepper and rub into brisket.
  • Step 2
    Heat oil in dutch oven and sear brisket on all sides.
  • Step 3
    Remove and set aside.
  • Step 4
    Saute onions in dutch oven.
  • Step 5
    Replace brisket and cover totally with onions.
  • Step 6
    Cover tightly and place in 275 degree oven for 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
