old new england beefsteak pie
This is an old recipe that Mom had, she would make 2 pans of it. We would eat one and she would freeze the other after cooking and that would be a quickie meal when need be!

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sliced onions
- 1/3 cup bacon drippings
- 1 1/2 pounds round steak, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 3 1/4 cups boiling water
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup raw potatoes cut into 1/2 inch cubes
- 1 box frozen pie crust
How To Make old new england beefsteak pie

Step 1Remove pie crust from freezer and allow it to come to room temperature

Step 2Fry onions slowly in hot bacon drippings until soft.

Step 3Remove and save.

Step 4Roll meat in mixture of flour and seasoning and brown in bacon drippings.

Step 5Add boiling water and Worcestershire sauce.

Step 6Sprinkle in any remaining flour.

Step 7Cover, simmer until meat is tender (about 1 hour).

Step 8Add potatoes, cook 10 minutes longer.

Step 9Pour meat into a well-greased oblong ( 13 x 9 ) baking pan.

Step 10Place onions on top.

Step 11Cover completely with the pie crust

Step 12Bake in a hot oven (450 F.) for 30 minutes 6-8 servings.
