old fashioned meatloaf
This was my mom's recipe. I always wondered how she made the meatloaf so moist and flavorful. I think its the mixture of the beef suet, water and eggs. Using real bread crumbs instead also adds a different texture. Awesome

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground sausage
- 2 tablespoons prepared beef suet
- 4 slices bread ground in food processor
- 2 large eggs beaten
- 1 medium onion diced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground sage
- 1 tablespoon beef bouillon
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 4 - strips of bacon
- 1/2 jar chili sauce
How To Make old fashioned meatloaf

Step 1To prepare beef suet. Melt the suet on stove top and pour through a fine mesh strainer. Let sit at room temp to solidify.

Step 2Preheat oven 350 degrees Mix all ingredients together except for bacon and chili sauce. Place in a baking pan.

Step 3Top with slices of bacon. Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and top with chili sauce and bake another 15 to 20 minutes until meat is done.
