Ma noted that this is very good! I have never made a pie with the meat in the pie crust. It also doesn't say if the rice should be cooked first or not...I would assume so.

Ingredients For new country pie, ma

  • CRUST:
  • 1/2
    8 oz can hunts tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
    bread crumbs
  • 1 lb
    hamburger
  • 1/4 c
    chopped green pepper
  • 1/4 c
    chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/8 tsp
    oregano
  • FILLING:
  • 1 1/3 c
    minute rice
  • 1 1/2 c
    hunts tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1 c
    grated cheese

How To Make new country pie, ma

    Combine all ingredients for crust in a bowl and mix well with a fork, then pat the meat mixture gently into the bottom and sides of a greased 9" pie plate.

    For filling, combine rice, tomato sauce, salt, water and 1/2 c cheese. Spoon rice mixture into meat shell. Cover with foil and bake at 3530 degrees for 25 min. Uncover, top with remaining cheese and bake 10-15 min.
