Blue Ribbon Recipe by

My mom and dad are awesome cooks. Anytime I come over they know I want to eat lol. She swears that I can smell it from across the state. Here is one of her bbq recipes.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

This easy slow cooker dish is similar to a sloppy joe. Julie's concoction is better than any premade sauce or canned mix, though. It's a little bit sweet with a tang. After browning the meat on the stove, the slow cooker does all the work and the meat cooks down really nice and tender. This would be great to throw together for a crowd for a football game, but we would double the recipe. It will disappear quickly!

How To Make my mom's bbq

Test Kitchen Tips
We gave this a stir about an hour into simmering so the sides wouldn't burn.
  • 1
Preheat your slow cooker on low for 10 minutes.
  • 2
Brown the ground beef until it's no longer pink. Drain off the excess fat. Transfer the meat to the slow cooker.
  • 3
Add the rest of the ingredients and stir.
  • 4
Cook for a few hours until the bbq has had time to marry all the flavors. Pile into buns and enjoy.
