Great saturday night supper! I serve with nice salad loaded with veggies! I love the onion and mushroom combo on the patty melt! YUM!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    ground sirloin
  • ·
    cooking spray
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1/4 c
    onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 1
    (8 ounce) package sliced mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    flour
  • 1/4 c
    beef broth
  • 8 slice
    rye bread
  • 4 slice
    reduced fat provolone cheese

How to Make Mushroom and Provolone Patty Melts

Step-by-Step

  1. Shape sirloin into 4 patties. Heat large skillet over medium-high heat and spray with cooking spray. Add patties and cook until done.
  2. In a medium skillet over medium-high heat the olive oil. Add the onions, mushrooms, salt and pepper and saute until veggies are tender crisp. Add flour and stir for 1 minute. Add the beef broth and cook until thickened, about 30 seconds. Remove veggies from pan and keep warm.
  3. Wipe skillet clean. Coat 1 side of each rye bread slice with cooking spray and add 4 slices and brown. Top each slice with a pattie, provolone and veggie mixture. Top with remaining rye bread slice, turn and cook until bread is browned.
