Meatloaf and mozzarella cheese. What else could you want for a comfort recipe?

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 - eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup saltine cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 8 ounces pizza sauce
  • 3 slices mozzarella, slices
  • - green bell pepper, optional
  • - mushrooms, optional
  • - butter, optional

How To Make mozzarella meat loaf

  • Step 1
    Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan.
  • Step 2
    Bake at 350 for 1 1/4 hours or until no pink remains.
  • Step 3
    Drain.
  • Step 4
    Spoon pizza sauce over loaf and top with cheese slices.
  • Step 5
    Return to the oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  • Step 6
    Meanwhile, if desired, saute green pepper and mushrooms in butter.
  • Step 7
    Arrange on top of meat loaf.
