This is delicious. We enjoyed it very much. It has a mild flavor but if you would like it spicy, I am sure you could add a hot spice or oil and it would be great. This is husband approved!

Ingredients For mongolian beef in a dutch oven or crockpot

  • 2 Tbsp
    plus 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    plus 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    sesame oil
  • 1/8 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1 Tbsp
    plus 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 lb
    beef stew meat
  • 1 Tbsp
    plus 1 1/4 teaspoon flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    plus 1/4 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/3 c
    beef broth
  • 1/4 c
    shredded carrots
  • 1/2 tsp
    cider vinegar
  • cooked rice or noodles, to serve
  • chopped green onion, to garnish
  • toasted sesame seeds, to garnish

How To Make mongolian beef in a dutch oven or crockpot

    In a Dutch oven, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic. Set aside.

    Toss the beef with the flour until evenly coated.

    In a frying pan, add the olive oil at medium-high heat. When the pan is hot, add the beef and carrots. Cook for 5 - 7 minutes or until beef is lightly browned.

    Add beef to your Dutch oven and mix with the soy sauce mixture already in there.

    Pour beef broth into frying pan and stir it around getting any bits stuck to the bottom. Then pour that into the Dutch oven and mix everything together.

    Put in 325 degree F oven and cook for 1 1/2 - 2 hours or until beef is soft.

    Remove from oven and add cider vinegar. Stir and return to oven 10 - 15 minutes.

    Remove from oven. Put over rice or noodles. Garnish with green onion and sesame seeds.

    *If you want, to you could make this in a Crock Pot. Just cook on low 8 - 10 hours, or until beef is soft.
