Ingredients For mongolian beef

  • FOR THE MEAT
  • 1 lb
    flank steak
  • 3 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 c
    corn starch\
  • FOR THE SAUCE
  • 1 tsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 2 Tbsp
    garlic
  • 1/2 c
    soy sauce
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 3/4 c
    dark brown sugar

How To Make mongolian beef

  • 1
Cut the flank steak against the grain into thick bite-size pieces
  • 2
mix the cornstarch, and hoisin sauce together and coat the steak. I found it easiest to put the steak into a plastic bag or a bowl so its easier to get everything coated! let that sit for about 20 minutes
  • 3
While you are letting the steak sit you want to get started on the sauce. Start by heating up the tsp of vegetable oil in a non stick pan or wok and add the ginger and garlic to it.
  • 4
before you can let it scorch add the soy sauce water and brown sugar. Bring it to a boil so that the brown sugar devolves then bring the temp down to low.
  • 5
In another pan heat up the other 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil and add the steak, let it simmer for about 10 minutes until it starts to get golden brown
  • 6
Add the sauce to the pan and cook for another 10-15 minutes and serve. We eat ours with green beans and rice! :)
