Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

FOR THE MEAT

1 lb
flank steak
3 Tbsp
vegetable oil
2 Tbsp
hoisin sauce
1/2 c
corn starch

FOR THE SAUCE

1 tsp
vegetable oil
1 tsp
ground ginger
2 Tbsp
garlic
1/2 c
soy sauce
1/2 c
water
3/4 c
dark brown sugar

How to Make Mongolian Beef

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cut the flank steak against the grain into thick bite-size pieces
  • 2mix the cornstarch, and hoisin sauce together and coat the steak. I found it easiest to put the steak into a plastic bag or a bowl so its easier to get everything coated! let that sit for about 20 minutes
  • 3While you are letting the steak sit you want to get started on the sauce. Start by heating up the tsp of vegetable oil in a non stick pan or wok and add the ginger and garlic to it.
  • 4before you can let it scorch add the soy sauce water and brown sugar. Bring it to a boil so that the brown sugar devolves then bring the temp down to low.
  • 5In another pan heat up the other 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil and add the steak, let it simmer for about 10 minutes until it starts to get golden brown
  • 6Add the sauce to the pan and cook for another 10-15 minutes and serve. We eat ours with green beans and rice! :)
