Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup cheese, grated
  • 12 ounces tortilla chips, baked
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

How To Make mom's taco casserole

  • Step 1
    Saute meat in skillet.
  • Step 2
    Add taco seasoning mix, spices, tomato sauce and water.
  • Step 3
    Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered 15 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add tortilla chips, mix, being careful not to break chips.
  • Step 5
    Pour into a 2 inch deep by 8-inch round or square baking disk.
  • Step 6
    Bake in 400 oven for 10-15 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Top with cheese, bake a little longer if desired.
