Ingredients

  • 8 large bell peppers, green, yellow, orange or red
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups croutons, garlic
  • 1 - 2 oz. cans mushrooms, drained
  • 2 - tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • - salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 - 4 oz. cans tomato sauce, italian seasoned

How To Make *** mom's stuffed peppers ***

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Slice of top of each pepper. Precook peppers in boiling water, 5 minutes.
  • Step 3
    In skillet, brown beef & onions. Drain. Stir in croutons, mushrooms, diced tomato, worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper & 1/2 C mozzarella. Spoon into peppers. Bake covered with foil 1/2 hour.
  • Step 4
    Uncover & sprinkle rest of cheese. Bake 10 minutes. Cover tops of peppers (on top of cheese) with tomato sauce, cook 10 minutes more.
