How To Make *** mom's pepper steak ***

    1 1/2 lbs round steak cut 1/2" thick, mix 1/4 lb flour & toss on meat. Melt shortening & brown meat on all sides. Add 1 - 8 oz. can tomatoes, drained, but save liquid - add tomatoes last 15 minutes. Use tomato liquid, add to the tomato liquid 1 3/4 C water, 1/2 C onions, chopped, 1 whole garlic & 1 tsp beef flavor gravy base. Pour over meat, cover & simmer for 1 1/4 hours. Uncover stir in 1 1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce & 2 large green peppers, cut in strips. You can add mushrooms if want too. Cover & cook for 15 minutes longer until peppers are cooked, then add canned tomatoes. Serve over hot rice.
