Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup dry bread crumbs (1 slice bread toasted)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 - eggs, beaten
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sage
  • - pepper to taste
  • MOM'S SUPER SAUCE
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 + teaspoon dry mustard

How To Make mom's meat loaf

  • Step 1
    Chop onions, make breadcrumbs, beat eggs. Soak breadcrumbs in milk. Add meat, eggs, onion and seasonings. Mix well. Place in loaf pan.
  • Step 2
    For Super Sauce: Mix together catsup, brown sugar, nutmeg and dry mustard. Spread over meat in pan. **NOTE** i like to shape the tops and sides of the loaf with a fork; the ridges help the sauce to drip down the sides, so the sides look as yummy as the top.
  • Step 3
    Bake one hour at 350.
  • Step 4
    (Don't forget to leave enough for meat loaf sandwiches the next day!)
