I don't know where my mother got this recipe but it's the best sloppy joes I ever had! Whenever I make it, it reminds me of her. Also the longer you leave this in the skillet or crockpot the better it tastes!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup onion
  • 1 can 16 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup sweet or dill relish (this can be eliminated if desired)

How To Make momma's sloppy joes

  • Step 1
Brown ground beef in skillet. Drain grease and add other ingredients. Cook in skillet for 30 minutes or longer.
  • Step 2
You may put this in a crockpot on low for several hours, the longer time allowed for the ingredients to "marry" the better. Just make sure you check it from time to time and stir so it won't dry out
