Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds round steak, cut into strips
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon molasses or brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 16 ounces can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 - large onion, sliced
  • 1 - green pepper, sliced
  • 1/4 pound fresh mushrooms, slices (optional)

How To Make miner's steak

  • Step 1
    Dredge steak in mixture of flour, salt and pepper. Put into large casserole dish with lid and sprinkle any remaining flour over the meat. Add all the remaining ingredients.
  • Step 2
    Bake covered at 325° for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Serve over noodles or rice.
  • Step 3
    NOTE: I usually serve this with noodles and add the cooked noodles to the meat mixture to soak up all the juices.
