I love Chili, but not too hot or spicy, for those that like to burn their stomach lining I leave hot pepper flakes and tobasco at hand. Whenever it is cold out, or snowing especially I get the urge to make a crock pot of my own version of chili. My kids love it, and you can freeze it for a later date.

How to Make Mild hearty Chili

  • 1chop the onion, and garlic and brown in the olive oil until soft.Chop the cilantro and saute for a few seconds to release the oil in the leaves.
  • 2Add the ground beef, or ground turkey and brown. Add 1/4 c of water, the chili seasoning mix and the jar of salsa and simmer for 15 min.
  • 3Stir and add the cans of tomato, kidney and pinto beans and mix together. Pour it all in a crock pot and cook on low for about two hours. You can leave it up to 4 hours but add some water to it so it does not reduce down and burn.
  • 4Top with oyster crackers, saltines or crushed Frito's or tortia chips and enjoy!
