I love Chili, but not too hot or spicy, for those that like to burn their stomach lining I leave hot pepper flakes and tobasco at hand. Whenever it is cold out, or snowing especially I get the urge to make a crock pot of my own version of chili. My kids love it, and you can freeze it for a later date.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef, or turkey
  • 1 can kidney beans, canned
  • 2 cans pinto beans
  • 1 package mild chili mix
  • 1 medium sweet onion
  • 3 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 can diced tomato ( they come with onion and garlic too)
  • 1 large can of chopped tomato
  • 3-4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3-4 sprigs cilantro, fresh
  • 1 jar mild salsa

How To Make mild hearty chili

  • Step 1
chop the onion, and garlic and brown in the olive oil until soft.Chop the cilantro and saute for a few seconds to release the oil in the leaves.
  • Step 2
Add the ground beef, or ground turkey and brown. Add 1/4 c of water, the chili seasoning mix and the jar of salsa and simmer for 15 min.
  • Step 3
Stir and add the cans of tomato, kidney and pinto beans and mix together. Pour it all in a crock pot and cook on low for about two hours. You can leave it up to 4 hours but add some water to it so it does not reduce down and burn.
  • Step 4
Top with oyster crackers, saltines or crushed Frito's or tortia chips and enjoy!
