I learned this version (I have 2) from an ole black woman i worked with, she was the cook and taught me alot...Love ya Sally where ever you are today!

Ingredients

  • - 3-4 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 - envelope liptons beefy onion soup mix
  • - garlic powder
  • 2 - eggs
  • 10 - saltine crackers crushed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 sprigs celery, sliced thick and thin
  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • 2 cans water or more
  • 1/4 cup butter/margarine

How To Make michelle's meatloaf

  • Step 1
    in a 9x13 baking dish i mix my ground beef with soup mix and sprinkle garlic powder 2 eggs, can add some crushed crackers too.mix well and form a loaf. place in a 400 degree oven for 45 minutes and drain the grease off return to oven to finish cooking till sauce is ready.
  • Step 2
    while meatloaf is baking, put butter in a dutch oven and melt add onion and celery and sautee. add tomato sauces and water. will be runny cook till thickens to a medium consistancy. Add this sauce to meatloaf after draining the grease and bake till done which is usually 1 hour maybe 1 hour and 15 minutes. serve over mashed potatoes this gravy is awesome...
