I don't remember where I got this recipe, but I have been making this meal for many years.

Ingredients

  • 1 - uncooked 8 or 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 can Mexicorn, drained (I use Green Giant brand)
  • 1/2 cup soda cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dried bell pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 4 - pimento stuffed green olives, sliced
  • 6 slices crisp bacon, crumbled, if desired
  • TOPPING:
  • 1 - egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

How To Make mexicali meat pie

  • Step 1
    In mixing bowl, beat eggs slightly. Add ground beef, corn, cracker crumbs, chili sauce, pepper flakes, onion and oregano. Mix well.
  • Step 2
    Press meat mixture firmly into pastry-lined pie pan. Bake at 425° for 20-25 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Mix topping ingredients; spread over cooked meat. Top with olive slices and crumbled bacon, if desired. Bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
  • Step 4
    Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
