meatloaf with piquant sauce

I found this recipe many years ago and my family loved it and so i've been making it ever since.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup minced onions
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 - eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt & freshly ground pepper
  • PIQUANT SAUCE
  • 1 cup thick ketchup (heinz)
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

How To Make meatloaf with piquant sauce

  • Step 1
    Mix the ingredients for the sauce and set aside to thicken.
  • Step 2
    Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl mix ground beef and remaining 6 ingredients. I then mix this thoroughly and form into a loaf shape, fit into loaf pan and pour the sauce over the top. Bake 350F for 1 hour or until meatloaf is no longer pink.
  • Step 3
    After you take meatloaf out of the oven, remove meat out of pan and let it rest on a small wire rack to drain. Then slice and serve.
