meatloaf

I love flavorful meatloaf! This one can be made healthier if you choose by using ground turkey or a leaner ground beef, if you prefer. You could also use egg beaters, instead of real eggs and real onion, rather than dehydrated onion. If you are counting Points Plus on Weight Watchers, it is 8 PP per serving, making 10 3/4" slices. To keep it even healthier, bake it in a special meatloaf pan that has a holed insert for draining off fat while baking.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef, 80/20
  • 3/4 cup milk, 2%
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup italian bread crumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried sage
  • 4 tablespoons onion flakes, dehydrated

How To Make meatloaf

  • Step 1
Re-hydrate your onion flakes in water (or use 1 small real chopped onion).
  • Step 2
Place the 2 lbs. of ground beef in a large mixing bowl and add the remainder of the ingredients to it, thoroughly blending flavors together.
  • Step 3
Press ground beef mixture into a meatloaf (or bread loaf) pan and bake at 350 for 90 minutes.
  • Step 4
Note: I use an actual meatloaf pan that has a holed insert for draining off the fat. A bread loaf pan or cake pan will work, but your meatloaf will sit in it's grease. (Not a big problem if you are using a leaner ground beef or ground turkey.) This meatloaf is very moist, but you may want to use more milk and egg and less bread crumbs if you are using a leaner version or ground turkey.
  • Step 5
    ENJOY!
