This is extremely flavorful. I like to make lots of little meatballs to go over my sub.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 c
    chopped green onions
  • 1/4 c
    seasoned bread crumbs
  • 3 Tbsp
    parmesan cheese
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1
    loaf italian bread, cut into 1" slices
  • 1 pkg
    (8oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp
    italian seasoning
  • 1/2 c
    mayonnaise
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 2 c
    shredded part-skim mozzarrella cheese, divided
  • 1 jar(s)
    (28oz) spaghetti sauce
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced

How to Make Meatball Sub Casserole

Step-by-Step

  1. In a bowl, combine onion, crumbs, and Parmesan cheese. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 1" balls; place on a rack in a shallow baking pan. Bake at 400* for 15-20 minutes or until no longer pink.
  2. Meanwhile, arrange bread in a single layer in an ungreased 13"x9"x2" baking dish. Combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, Italian seasoning, and pepper; spread over the bread.Sprinkle with 1/2 cup mozzarella.
  3. Combine the sauce, water, and garlic; add meatballs. Pour over cheese mixture; sprinkle with remaining mozzarella. Bake, uncovered, at 350* for 30 minutes or until heated through.
